Bad Weather? Find An Indoor Dog Park

Enjoy Great Indoor Action With Your Best Buddy

By Caren Baginski

With indoor dog parks opening up across the country, it's getting even easier to enjoy playtime in any season. Here are five finds throughout the country for you and your dog to play in the park.

  1. Dogtopia of Woodbridge  (0 reviews)

    Woodbridge, VA 22191

Owner Amber Sutton and Zeke, her 2-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, both have favorite aspects of their 3,000-square foot park, daycare and dog spa. "He loves to do laps around the room and race through the tunnels." On the last Sunday of every month, bring your buddy for one of two play sessions inside this 3,000-square-foot park. The park offers plenty of water stations, a cushy rubberized floor, toys, and open crates for down time between play sessions.

  2. Little Rascals Doggie Day Care and Boarding  (0 reviews)

    Washington D.C., DC 20011

Zoom into this car-themed indoor dog park. Benches and car seats (equipped with drink holders!) line the perimeter, creating perfect places for enjoying wireless Internet with your dog by your side. This 7,000-square-foot, climate-controlled indoor space gets plenty of natural light from the wall of windows. The park also provides separate areas for small and large dogs so your dog can play around other dogs his size.

  3. K9 Kingdom  (0 reviews)

    Wexford, PA 15090

This bright, colorful indoor dog park is cooled in the summer and heated in the winter. Christin Bummer says the park was inspired by Cosmo, her Entlebucher Mountain Dog. "It's her place. We call her the official greeter," she jokes. The 4,000-square-foot park boasts blue walls and a green, rubberized floor that simulates the outdoors, and two separate areas for large and small dogs.

  4. Stone Mountain Pet Lodge  (0 reviews)

    Blaine, MN 55449

This indoor dog park is busiest during winter, and opens their outdoor fenced area connected to the park when the weather cooperates. Small and large dogs romp together on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in a well-ventilated area. Newly opened for off-leash play last December, the park features platforms for you and your dog to play on and plenty of water dishes for your thirsty pal.

  5. Canine To Five Indoor Dog Park  (0 reviews)

    Detroit, MI 48201

This 4,500-square-foot area is equipped with jungle gyms, a watering hole, and assorted toys. Manager Natalie Dean says some dogs even take advantage of the slides! Owner Liz Blondy's 2-year-old Newfoundland, Bunny, loves to play fetch at the park, especially during the school year and winter, the park's busiest time.

I would like to see a dog park that has places to walk your dog. Some gyms have indoor tracks for jogging. A maze would be good. All the ones listed above don't mention any walk areas. I love to walk my dog. An indoor walk area in the winter would be nice where you get a lot of snow. The sand and salt isn't good for there paws. It is good though for a dog to romp thru some snow.
